artists' home
in Javea

Placed among vineyards and today planted with trees and some sculptures, this house was used for the preparation of sultanas. So often depicted by Spanish painters of the 19th and the 20th centuries, this type of work was typical of the Valencian countryside. It has practically died out in spite of the outstanding quality of the Muscatel grapes.

20 years ago the house had fallen into ruin. It was lovingly restored by the painter O.Gonet and his wife, the scultrice Etta, to serve as a charming background for the exhibition of paintings
It is opened to the public (by appointment), from September till May (closed in summer).
